The specs for this one may not blow the latest iPhones or Samsungs out of the water but for $4 even poor rural dwellers can access the digital world. Freedom 251 sparked some controversy months ago when it was discovered that the phone was an illegal copy of China’s Adcom Ikon 4.
All that’s in the past now, Ringing Bells, the company behind the phone announced that they have a 4-inch, dual-SIM device ready to ship. The specs have somewhat been updated as well. The phone comes with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. The rear camera has 8-megapixels and the front facing is a 3.2 megapixels shooter.
Ringing Bells plans to fulfill 2.5 million orders by the end of June and ship out 200,000 units every month after that.
