Friday is our music meeting day here at DJFM. Everyone at the stations gathers in the board room for two hours and we listen and vote on songs that we think should be added to the playlist for the following week. It’s one of my favourite things to do because it gives everyone a chance to have an input into music we play. Alliances are created and Tim Hortons bribes given but that’s a different story.
Of course we want you to be involved in the music selection process as well, this is why we run this daily Stash it or Trash it poll. If you Stash a song that the office voted as Trash, your vote automatically overrules our vote and the song gets added to the playlist.
So yesterday I was going through different new songs on my Blackberry Playbook trying to pick a song I would present for the music meeting. That’s when I came across this brand new artist from Holland, the land of wooden shoes (which I really have to get a pair of), wind mills and Vincent Van Gogh. Her name is Maruja Retana and she used to be a psychologist before she discovered her passion for music. Her first single, out now worldwide on Spinnin Records, is called “Right through me” and has a nice Deadmau5ish or Inpetto feel to it.
I like it but do you?
Remember voting closes at 7pm (EST)
