Skydiver plans to jump without a parachute on live TV

Daredevil skydiver Luke Aikins will be performing a jump from 25,000 feet without a parachute or a wing suit and you will be able to watch it all on live tv.

Aikins has performed over 18,000 jumps in his life but this one is very different, as instead of being gently brought to the ground, his fall will end by him hitting a 100 square foot net suspended 20 stories in the air.

The net has been tested with 200 pound dummies and the stunt co-coordinators are certain that it will hold up, however Fox, the network which will broadcast the event live tonight starting at 8pm (ET) will run the show in delay, just in case something does go wrong.

“If I wasn’t nervous I would be stupid,” he told the Guardian, “We’re talking about jumping without a parachute, and I take that very seriously. It’s not a joke.”

My PVR is already set, wouldn’t want to miss this one.
